New SlideShow @ The Jewish Daily Forward!

It’s nice to be mentioned in the same sentence with R. Crumb, famed underground comix artist and creator of the new Book of Genesis in his inimitable satirical style. However one correction needs to be noted: my ‘trademark style’ that they mention is not ‘colored pencil’; it’s what I call ‘tradigital’, a hybrid of traditional drawing with digital composition and color. Haven’t worked with colored pencil in quite some time, but perhaps will do so again-my rainbow of colors looks so forlorn whenever I glance at them from my computer!

Great having Crumb mentioned,..but I do think your work is MUCH more subtle than his… one wonders why the Crumb comparison was even made (or was it just a mention?)
Ilene… your work has more to offer than Crumb’s…

Thank you, Johann. Initially, I was a bit uneasy about the comparison, especially since Crumb only tackled Genesis.
However, since Crumb is such the comix icon, being associated with a commodity is not necessarily a bad thing.
He has his fans as do I, and in the best of outcomes, more people will be reacquainted with the stories and ideas
that guide our history and cultures.
